Lean's art is an exploration of the digital landscape and power. Through his work, Lean beautifies the landscape he sees.

This artist uses the symbol of the ‘power button’ to illustrate his quest in understanding ascendance and the technology landscape. In painting the power button, he gives life to an emblem we indubitably use every day. Lean's translation of the landscape results in intricately stratified patterns that resemble motherboards, and the aerial views of a busy city; the maze of data being carried through optic fibres.

The artworks are bright and seamless, resulting in smooth gradations and detailed layers upon layers that reflect his interpretation of the digital landscape. Lean's ideas derive from a constant questioning of the world we live in today. A world where power surrounds us all; it can be the downfall of an innocent bystander seduced by its elusive indemnification. Conversely, it enables choice, speech, movement, it represents freedom and happiness. Elements that make up power, also deem one powerless – such as the ‘on and off' of the power button.

Lean believes the advent of technology and the internet means there has never been a time where power has more influence, more reach, more breadth. Although, Lean would argue this state exists within the confines of those who hold ultimate power in the world; those who dominate the real decisions on how and who live.
